I want to learn French, and it is all because of this movie. It has the most beautifully spoken alphabet I have ever heard in my entire life.
I wish these were the ABC’s I learned. I think I am going to teach my children the French alphabet. If you haven’t seen The Diving Bell and the Butterfly then I highly reccomend it.
A juice chain that serves oatmeal all day every day..sounds like a dream, but it’s not! Yesterday I went to Jamba Juice on Lake and State and as I perused the menu for a fruity drink, I saw the new oatmeal addition to their menu.
I love oatmeal!! The problem with oatmeal is that it is only served till 11 a.m. at the latest at most restaurants or breakfast joints, and that’s if there is any left. Because the last thing I want to do in the morning is leave my apartment before eating breakfast and drinking two cups of coffee, I rarely ever enjoy the oatmeal Chicago has to offer.
If I do treat myself to oatmeal, usually my second breakfast of the day, then I definitely hit up Corner Bakery. The oatmeal is good, no complaints, but I pretty much order it because it comes with the sugary “SweetCrisps.” I break up these slices of raisin baked bread and drown them in my oatmeal. Add a little extra brown sugar in the oatmeal and I turn this some what healthy meal into a load of calories and sugar. I think Mr. Quaker would be proud.
Because I definitely bought business cards. I don’t know what I think about this. Part of me is excited to see my little name and contact info on a small curved-edge piece of white cardstock, but it is so weird.
You could say that only “grown-ups” have business cards, but I really had to grow up just to order them.
I made a new e-mail account, a gmail account to be specific. I thought that my AOL e-mail was a little out dated. Not only did I get a new e-mail address that nobody knows about, but I also bought my own domain name. I own the rights to evefuller.com. Nothing is on that page yet and soon I will have it linked up to my porftolio, but as of right now, I also own my own website. Right???
Somebody asked me if I put “journalist” or “student” on it. This never once crossed my mind. I only bought 50 cards so I can always add stuff and order more, but I don’t know if I am ready to declare, and I won’t say “pigeon hole,” myself to being a journalist. As of right now I am an antsy 22 year old who is graduating in two weeks and can’t wait for school to be over so I can relax and take a long nap.
This weekend I had to head out to SIR Spa to interview the manager for my Trade magazine Company Profile story. I had never been to Andersonville before and I thought it was just adorable.
The manager and client of SIR Spa that I interviewed were the most aesthtically perfect men I think I have ever seen. After showing me around the spa, they gave me a glass of chilled white wine and gave me a free manicure. They didn’t have any nail polish because it is a spa targeted towards men, but they still really cleaned up my nails and gave me a nice massage.
They turned the Cubs game off because it was so “bor-ing” and put on Real Housewives of New York City to bitch about. I loved it! This would never ever happen if I was at a women’s spa.
Both of the men I spoke with had backgrounds in marketing and they were the most helpful interviewees. They answered all of my questions, reccomended websites to go to, articles I should read, and put me in contact with other people at the spa.
It is nice to learn two weeks before graduating that not all people are hard to get in touch with. Some people are actually willing to help me out, even if I am just a college kid writing a paper for class.
I have discovered Salad Creations. I am very excited about this. I always bring a lunch when I am interning, but I tend to snack on most of it before I even take my lunch and I get hungry again. I also sit at a desk all day and I always want to get outside and have a change of scenery, and Salad Creations happens to be a short block (if that) away from my job.
At Salad Creations you can pick how you want your salad tossed (chopped or just normal) and then you can pick the ingredients you want with it, what dressing, or you can pick one of their “signature” salad creations. I have been picking the Vegetarian salad every time. I am not a vegetarian, but I like the ingredients that are in it like artichokes, peppers, and other good veggies. I have been asking them to hold back the chickpeas because they put way too many in. In place of the chickpeas they let me pick a new ingredient, and I usually go with sliced cucumbers.
The staff is very nice and extra chipper. I think this is because the manager always says things like, “Can I get a ‘thank you!’” to the rest of the staff working, so they are always loud and upbeat. The guy who checked me out the other day even roped me into some “deal” where I could also get a bag of chips and a soda. I love that. I bought it.
Tomorrow I am going to my first Cubbies game ever!! I am really really excited! I have lived here for about a year and a half and I have always wanted to go to a game. Back in the dorms last year, a neighbor of mine woke up at like 6 in the morning to go buy season tickets. I always hassled him and tried to convince him to take me to a game. Then yesterday I ran into him on the El and he said his roomie couldn’t go and wanted to know if I would like to. Obviously I said “yes!”
I can’t wait to get a hot dog and a beer…but I will be limiting myself because I have a 3 hour history class at 6:30 p.m. that I will have to run to right after the game.
Back in high school my friend Jeremy always used to imitate Harry Caray’s voice. I always thought his imitation of this guy was funny, but I never actually knew who he was making fun of.
After typing my 60610 zip code into the EveryBlock site, I didn’t find anything too interesting or suprising..which I guess is a good thing, right? What I did find interesting and funny was that at the the top of my page, the firs three items that were listed were reguarding the luxury and Queen scarf wearing clothing line, Hermes, has moved from 15 E. Oak Street to 150 E. Oak Street into the newly vacant Barney’s building. Oh SHIT!!!
In other news, the Cheese Cake Factory and the Walgreens have passed their recent inspection. As for crimes, the ones that happen around where I live are all some type of theft…almost all from homes that are “Over $300.” There were also some battery charges that happened at local Division bars at around 12:30 a.m. No surprise.
I have always felt like I live in a really safe area, and this site confirmed that as well. The streets by where I currently live that I feel are a little bit sketchy are also the ones where the crimes mostly took place.
If there is one thing that excites me, one thing I am passionate about, one thing that gets me up in the morning….well, that’s breakfast. I absolutely love breakfast. Some times I even indulge in a second breakfast, just like Sam from Lord of the Rings so desired. Eating breakfast when I wake up in the morning is maybe my most favorite time of the day. I wake up about two hours in the morning before I have to be some where just so I can drink my coffee, sit under my blanket, watch TV, and eat my breakfast.
This mandrin french toast topped with carmelized bananas was a breakfast I ate over spring break in a cute diner joint in West Marin, California. This was truly a treat, and I even had to take breaks to steal some of my brother’s country fried steak just to clean my pallete from all the sugar.
Some times I don’t know what is in my breakfast…
I ate this breakfast on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s at my favorite Atlantic Pub in Lincoln Square. Sweet beans sat next to hearty sausage and two pieces of ham hid under buttered toast. I still don’t know what the dollar sized meat concotions are, but..they were good. And there is nothing like a Miller Lite in a plastic cup to wash it down.
My breakfasts are much simpler. Toasted sprouted bread with crunchy peanut butter, scrambled eggs (1 egg/1 egg yolk), or Kashi wheat cereal with cut up bananas and whole milk. And on that note, I was raised on whole milk and don’t understand how people can drink 2% or all the other watered down ones. My bones are strong and I think I have whole milk to thank for that.
It is April 8th, 2009 and this is my first podcast.
This sample cut goes out to the Warriors, that real live bunch from Coney, and I do mean the Warriors..bahaha!
I like podcasting but I think I need to download audacity or garage band. Sound quality is pretty bad.
