music to my ears
I want to learn French, and it is all because of this movie. It has the most beautifully spoken alphabet I have ever heard in my entire life.
I wish these were the ABC’s I learned. I think I am going to teach my children the French alphabet. If you haven’t seen The Diving Bell and the Butterfly then I highly reccomend it.
oats
A juice chain that serves oatmeal all day every day..sounds like a dream, but it’s not! Yesterday I went to Jamba Juice on Lake and State and as I perused the menu for a fruity drink, I saw the new oatmeal addition to their menu.
I love oatmeal!! The problem with oatmeal is that it is only served till 11 a.m. at the latest at most restaurants or breakfast joints, and that’s if there...
do you want my card?
Am I old???
Because I definitely bought business cards. I don’t know what I think about this. Part of me is excited to see my little name and contact info on a small curved-edge piece of white cardstock, but it is so weird.
You could say that only “grown-ups” have business cards, but I really had to grow up just to order them.
I made a new e-mail account, a gmail account...
yay for being a journalist
This weekend I had to head out to SIR Spa to interview the manager for my Trade magazine Company Profile story. I had never been to Andersonville before and I thought it was just adorable.
The manager and client of SIR Spa that I interviewed were the most aesthtically perfect men I think I have ever seen. After showing me around the spa, they gave me a glass of chilled white wine and gave me a...
My lunch joint
I have discovered Salad Creations. I am very excited about this. I always bring a lunch when I am interning, but I tend to snack on most of it before I even take my lunch and I get hungry again. I also sit at a desk all day and I always want to get outside and have a change of scenery, and Salad Creations happens to be a short block (if that) away from my job.
At Salad Creations you can pick...

go Cubs go
Tomorrow I am going to my first Cubbies game ever!! I am really really excited! I have lived here for about a year and a half and I have always wanted to go to a game. Back in the dorms last year, a neighbor of mine woke up at like 6 in the morning to go buy season tickets. I always hassled him and tried to convince him to take me to a game. Then yesterday I ran into him on the El and he said his...
My Block
After typing my 60610 zip code into the EveryBlock site, I didn’t find anything too interesting or suprising..which I guess is a good thing, right? What I did find interesting and funny was that at the the top of my page, the firs three items that were listed were reguarding the luxury and Queen scarf wearing clothing line, Hermes, has moved from 15 E. Oak Street to 150 E. Oak...
Breakfast at...
If there is one thing that excites me, one thing I am passionate about, one thing that gets me up in the morning….well, that’s breakfast. I absolutely love breakfast. Some times I even indulge in a second breakfast, just like Sam from Lord of the Rings so desired. Eating breakfast when I wake up in the morning is maybe my most favorite time of the day. I wake up about two hours in the...

I'm going going back back to Cali Cali
I get to go home to California on Friday and I am sooo excited! I haven’t seen my family or been home since Thanksgiving and I really miss it.
Reasons I want to go home:
To see my sister Rhonda. She is a rescue dog from Compton and is part lab/doverman with rott weiler fur. She has the attitude of Beyonce with the heart of Mother Theresa. I love her so much.
To eat good food. Chicago has...
Media Journo
Best media journalism source, I will go with the obvious ones like Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. I have really not been interested in Twitter, but I did just use it for the first time to see if it would offer me any new up to date information I couldn’t get anywhere else.
So, I had heard earlier that Natasha Richardson was in the hosiptal and had brain damage (yes, I am not afraid to...
enfermo
I am getting sick and I hate it. I don’t have time to get sick. People were sick at my work, people were sick in some of my classes, and I even think my roommate was sick. So I guess it was inevitable that I got sick.
Last night I took two Tylenol PM and went to bed at 9.I think that is the earliest I have gone to bed in a very very long time. It felt great. I wish there were more hours in...
Social Web Tools
When you say the “social web” I am guessing you are referring to things like facebook and myspace. My experience has been pretty good with both of them. I got a myspace about two summers ago when I was working at a camp for the summer in Yosemite. My friends had been trying to make me get a myspace forever and I always refused. But that summer I didn’t have a phone or anything,...

Cheers to Hosea..I guess
I don’t think Hosea should have won Top Chef, but I don’t know if I wanted Stefan to. As a young woman myself, I had to root for goofy Carla, but she just blew it in the last challenge. Stefan was just too good for Top Chef. I had a roller coaster relationship with him. In the beginning of the season, I really didn’t care for him at all. By the middle of the season, I found...
Worst Group Experience
I can’t really think of horrible group experience I have had, I think I try and block them from my educational memories. At the last college I went to, California State Univeristy Channel Islands (holla), I was in a group with two other girls in my English class. The college I went to used to be the California State Mental Institute where all these crazy people went, and my school was...
The Big Easy
I am about to leave to go to New Orleans for 5 days! I have never been there before and my best friend Nina from California goes to Tulane University in Louisiana. Not only am I going to get to see my bff that I haven’t seen since August, but it is also Mardi Gras.
Things I need to acheieve in N’alins:
Eat jumbalaya, meet Emeril, eat red beans and rice, go to Magazine Street, ride...
Ode to the Internet
I know that the internet has impacted my life, but today I really realized how much it has. My power went out for two hours in my building and after realizing that it meant I couldn’t watch tv or use the elevator, I also realized that it meant I couldn’t use the internet. Without the internet I honestly could not do any of my homework besides some reading, I couldn’t look up how...
Yogi Love
My favorite times of the week are Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 6:30-7:50 p.m. That is when I have yoga. I love yoga! I don’t want to say it is my favorite class because I am a journalism major and I should say that my favorite class has something to do with writing and interview people, so my Yoga class is my second favorite. Yoga is not only really challenging, but I feel so...
Current Event
Congratulations to Stump! He won Best In Show at the 133rd annual Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden. Stump is a Sussex Spaniel, and I feel like I have never seen a dog like him before. As a dog lover myself, I am going to just be honest and say that I think last years winner Uno was a lot cuter. I am not the biggest fan of small dogs, I like rottweilers and labs, so maybe I am just...
http://www.twitter.com →
Yeah I know, it isn’t really new anymore. When I think “new journalism,” and “social tools” I think twitter. Why people would want to give constant updates on what they are doing…and why people think that other people care to read them I have yet to figure out. I am just listing this one because like facebook and myspace, I think I will have to give in at some...

If you have tried everything and still can’t get any sources, use this site! It is nice to know that someone is willing to help you….definitely a last resort, but a good one!
Story Ideas
The first week of school I wanted to die or drop out. I realized it was probably not the smartest idea to drop out of college 3 months before I gradute, so I know that I won’t do that. Last semester I took 5 journalism classes and it was really hard, and this semester I am taking fewer journalism classes but they are really hard! My Advanced and Trade Magazine classes really overwhelmed me...
The Changing Face of Journalism
Journalism is changing. My professors talk about the decline in readership, and that the world of magazines and newspapers are becoming a lot smaller. Personally, this does not scare me that much. I think that the number of people who are buying magazines or newspapers may be getting smaller, but the industry is not going to go completely under. People are still going to want to wake up every...
